A Study of Italian Light

These photographs were made while studying abroad in Cortona, Italy for the fall semester of 2011. The thing that struck me most about Tuscany was the very specific quality of light that pervaded everything, everywhere, so I quickly became obsessed with trying to find quiet moments where the light drastically affected what I was seeing. The images here are scans of 11x14” prints made in a traditional dark room, and they were all made with a Mamiya C220 medium format camera.
